PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sheet of recording paper from being fed under a high-temperature condition. SOLUTION: An image is thermally recorded on a sheet of color thermal recording paper 11 by a thermal head 22 by conveying the recording paper in a returning direction. A cooling fan 24 is provided to a portion at the downstream side in the returning direction with respect to the thermal head 22. The recorded part of the recording paper heated by the thermal head 22 is cooled by the cooling fan 24 to be wound back onto a recording paper roll 12. As a result, the color thermal recording paper 11 positioned in the vicinity of the circumference of the recording paper roll 12 is not heated, so that it is possible to prevent the recording paper 11 from being fed under a high-temperature condition in the next printing.
