PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a treated gas from leaking in a temperature lowering stage after stopping in an indirect heating working system and an operating method for the indirect heating working system.

SOLUTION: The indirect heating working system is operated for a specified time, and the flow passage of a selector valve 11 is set so that the hot gas of a combustion chamber 3a is fed to a first indirect heating furnace 21 and a second indirect heating furnace 22 through a hot gas feed duct 31 to lead a work to the first indirect heating furnace 21 and the second indirect heating furnace 22 so as to perform the indirect heating working of the work. After the indirect heating working of the work by a specified amount is completed, the operation of an indirect heating means 2 is stopped, the operation of a gas combustion means 3 is continued for a specified time, and the flow passage of the selector valve 11 is switched so that the hot gas in the combustion furnace 3a can be carried to a heat exchanger 4 through an unused hot gas duct 10.
