<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch capable of automatically building up transmission paths of a tree structure and to provide a network system configured to include the optical switch. <P>SOLUTION: The optical switch having a plurality of ports capable of switching paths for an optical signal transmitted through a network without converting light into another medium is provided with: a detection means for detecting information related to the transmission state of the optical signal passing through each port; and a control means for controlling the ports so that information related to the transmission state is exchanged between the switches and one path among a plurality of paths through which the optical signal passes can be selected on the basis of a difference between the information items related to the transmission state between the switches. The information related to the transmission state is e.g., the power of the optical signal and the transmission route is selected on the basis of the difference between the switches or the transmission route wherein the accumulated differences between the switches is minimized is selected when at least one switch is interposed in the midway of the transmission route, and then it is possible to automatically set the building-up of the tree structure having been carried out manually in the optical network system so as to realize reduction in the temporal/man-hour cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
