PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a key ring/stud assembly from an engine component. SOLUTION: This method is for removing the key ring/stud assembly 8 including a key ring part 14 and a stud 10 from a screw hole 32 in the gas turbine engine component. It includes a step of forming a temporary weld part on the key ring part 14 in the key ring/stud assembly 8, a step of welding an extractor 17 on the temporary weld part, a step of mounting a puller 25 on the extractor 17 welded with the temporary weld part, and a step of removing the key ring part 14 by pulling the puller 25 while leaving the stud 10 in the screw hole 32. Using wrench 30 or other proper tool, the stud 10 can be removed without damaging the screw hole 32 in a gas turbine engine component. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
