PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a step of receiving a bar in a correct permissible range from a wire in a coiled condition by a single continuous device. SOLUTION: A working system comprises a step (1) of delivering a wire coiled in a series of working steps to work the wire under predetermined conditions from a coiled metallic wire (a) at a predetermined rate to form a wire (a bar), a step (2) of straightening the wire by passing the delivered wire through one to several straightening devices arranged in the advancing direction of the wire, a step (3) of traveling the straightened wire at the correct position, detecting and determining whether or not the outside diameter and surface defects thereof are within a predetermined permissible range, and outputting and storing the result, and a step (4) of cutting the wire in the traveling condition to the predetermined length, and feeding the cut wire to a mechanism for sorting acceptance/rejection of the cut wire.
