摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connection structure having a simple structure permitting a simple and close contact between an optical transmission medium and a connecting member, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The optical connection structure holds an adhesive connecting member consisting of a single material with a reflective index matching property between the end faces of optical transmission media with cores to be faced to each other or between an optical transmission medium with a core and an optical component, and when expressing the minimum value of the distance from the core center of the optical transmission medium to the peripheral part of the adhesive connecting member by D<SB>1</SB>, the maximum value by D<SB>2</SB>, the radius of the optical transmission medium by R, and the radius of the core of the optical transmission medium by r, the structure satisfies D<SB>1</SB>≥r, and D<SB>2</SB>≤1.5R. This optical connection structure is manufactured by shifting a sheet-like adhesive connection member 2 relatively to the optical fiber in the direction of the optical fiber 1 while pressing the end face of the optical fiber 1 against the sheet-like adhesive connection member 2 and cutting off a part of the sheet-like adhesive connection member in the state of being stuck to the end face, and subsequently joining the optical fiber to which an adhesive connecting member 21 is adhered on the end face, to another optical fiber or an optical component.
