PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the circulating amount of a refrigerant of a compressor to improve the comfortableness of air conditioning operation by the opening/closing control of an opening/closing valve in a refrigerating cycle using the compressor having a displacement adjusting mechanism. SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprises the compressor having the displacement adjusting mechanism in which a movable compression chamber changing a displacement in the center of a scroll by meshing both spiral laps of a non-swing scroll and a swing scroll with each other, having, in the non-swing scroll, a movable device axially moving the non-swing scroll relative to the swing scroll, and operated to switch the compression chamber between a low displacement and a high displacement by the movable device, an outer heat exchanger, an expansion valve, and an indoor heat exchanger which are connected to each other in order to form the refrigerating cycle. The opening/closing valve is connected between the intake pipe of the compressor and the movable device, and the opening/closing valve is controllably opened and closed by the time allocation of a short frequency set according to the operating load of the air conditioner.
