PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and efficiently perform the peeling of a master carrier and a slave medium after the master carrier for magnetic transfer and the slave carrier are adhesively stuck to each other to perform magnetic transfer. SOLUTION: In the disk like master carrier for magnetic transfer provided with a substrate 31 having a projecting and recessed pattern corresponding to a desired transfer pattern on its surface and a ferromagnetic layer 33 disposed on the substrate 31, the layer thickness of the ferromagnetic layer 33 is made thin gradually from the inner peripheral part to the outer peripheral part of the disk to generate a gap at the outer peripheral part when load pressure applied when being adhesively stuck to the slave medium is released.
