PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time for which a user observes a map by a method different from a method for thinning the constitutional elements of each map at the time of high-speed traveling when a map is displayed on a car navigation device. SOLUTION: When the speed of a user's vehicle is less than a prescribed value V, the car navigation device displays a map by using display colors included in a first color pallet (steps 130→140), and when the speed of the user's vehicle is the prescribed value V or more, the map is displayed by using display colors included in a second color pallet having a display color group of which the contrast is higher than that of the display color group of the first color pallet (steps 130→150).
