PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an abridged map simplified to be easily understood, as to a road getting difficult to be understood, compared with an original road shape, by using linearization and orthogonalization processing. SOLUTION: The propriety of a road having an annular intersection, a side road, a two-lane or the like is determined based on a link classification set in each link in a map data (step S3). When corresponding to the road, the road is replaced with a specified road pattern stored preliminarily (step S4), deformation processing is carried out using the linearization and orthogonalization processing when not corresponding thereto (stepS5), and the abridged map is prepared thereby to be displayed (step S9).
