PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera for portable apparatuses, which suppresses the peak current, when activating auxiliary illumination and a light quantity control means when imaging. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with electrically driven shutter 13 for use as a diaphragm, a high-luminance LED 31 which is continuously lit, and a system control circuit 21 for controlling driving of the shutter 13 and the high-luminance LED 31. When an image is picked up with the high-luminance LED 31 on, the system control circuit 21 makes the high-luminance LED 31 extinguished before the end of exposure and then drives the shutter 13 for full-closing and makes the exposure terminated.
