PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a design method for a base isolated supporting structure of a pipeline capable of avoiding a large damage of the pipeline and its substructure even when an excessive external force is applied, for example by a large earthquake. SOLUTION: The base isolated supporting structure 2 installed on the top surface of the substructure 3 of an abutment etc. for supporting the pipeline 1 is admitted to make plastic deformation when an excessive load is applied while the load remains within the normal extent, in which the limit load is set to be lower than the yield load of the pipeline 1 and the substructure 3.
