<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element that can be improved fully in current diffusing effect, even if the thickness of a current diffusing layer is small and, furthermore, can uniformly energize the light-emitting layer section. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting element 100 is constituted of the light-emitting layer 24 composed of a compound semiconductor, and the current diffusing layer 91 composed of a compound semiconductor layer 24 having a thickness larger than that of the light-emitting layer 24 and laminated upon the light-emitting layer 24.
