<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating magnetic pole position of a motor capable of accurately estimating magnetic pole position even at a low speed, with no requirement for mechanical sensor nor hole sensor. <P>SOLUTION: For u-phase 31u, DC current idc measured at the time point of peak and bottom of triangular wave Cu corresponding to the u-phase 31u is taken as iu- and iu+, with a difference between them as harmonics component Iu. In the similar way, for v-phase, DC current idc measured at the time point of peak and bottom of triangular wave Cv corresponding to the v-phase is taken as iv- and iv+, with a difference between them as harmonics component Iv. In the similar way, for w-phase, DC current idc measured at the time point of peak and bottom of triangular wave Cw corresponding to the w-phase is taken as iw- and iw+, with a difference between them being harmonics component Iw.
