<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a WDM device which can be set quickly even when two WDM devices are located remotely in a long distance optical communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The WDM device for relaying an optical signal using a wavelength division multiplex system comprises a plurality of local communication sections each having a local communication port connected with an external communication apparatus and converting an optical signal received from the communication apparatus into an electric signal, a remote communication section having a remote communication port connected with other WDM device and transmitting a plurality of electric signals converted at the plurality of local communication sections to other WDM device while converting into a plurality of optical signals having a different wavelength and multiplexing, and a control section for interrupting set data including the set information of other WDM device into any one of the plurality of electric signals being supplied from the plurality of local communication sections to the remote communication section and transmitting the set information to other WDM device through the remote communication section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
