EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, for effectively suppressing variation in purifying performance between exhaust emission control catalysts.

SOLUTION: This device is employed for an internal combustion engine having exhaust passages separately disposed for each bank. The exhaust emission control catalyst is disposed to each exhaust passage. Mass flow rates G1, G2 of exhaust flowing into each exhaust passage is individually estimated (S104). Operation of each exhaust recirculation valve is controlled to reduce difference between the mass flow rates G1, G2 (S106, S108), so that the exhaust flow rate is individually controlled for each bank.
