PROJECTION TYPE IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display device which uses an ionized air generator as a cooling device and suppresses a nasty smell resulting from production of lower fatty acids. SOLUTION: An ionized air generator 20 is provided at the rear of a light source 1. In the ionized air generator 20, air is negatively ionized by corona discharge with a needle-like electrode 21 being the negative side, and the negatively ionized air is attracted by a mesh electrode 22 being the earth side, to generate air flow. A photocatalystic filter 24 is provided at the rear of the ionized air generator 20. Ozone (O3) is produced by corona discharge in the ionized air generator 20, and lower fatty acids are decomposed into alcohol and oxygen by the photocatalystic filter 24 though being produced by synthesis of ozone and alcohol remaining in an enclosure.
