PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap assembly for a secondary battery minimizing a resistance factor generating in the flow of current toward the cap assembly with an electrode assembly, and at the same time, inducing the smooth action of the vent. SOLUTION: The cap assembly contains a cap cover 22, a tab plate 16 installed on one side of the cap cover, and a vent plate 18 installed between the cap cover and the tab plate. The tab plate has a current breaking part 16a broken by the prescribed force, and the vent plate has a vent 18a deformed or broken by the prescribed force. The current breaking part is fixed to the vent, and at that time, the fixed point of the current breaking part to the vent does not agree with the center point of the current breaking part.
