PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unprocessed image data from being erased carelessly in a facsimile machine. SOLUTION: If operation modes are changed (s330) while there are image data unconfirmed by a user, that is, unprocessed data that are not processed with data stored in a RAM as they are (s370). The unprocessed data can be processed (s380 or later) regardless of whether the user recognizes that the unprocessed data are stored as they are. Therefore, after the processing is performed in this way, no unprocessed data are left in the RAM at this time even when the user performs an operation to restart a fax or stop operation or an operation to erase the data in the RAM, and consequently, the unprocessed image data can be prevented from being erased carelessly.
