PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation element holder capable of cooling an optical modulation element by cooling fluid and positioning the optical modulation element at a prescribed position, and to provide an optical device and a projector. SOLUTION: The optical modulation element holder 4402 is constituted by including a supporting frame 4409 having an opening 4409A1 in which a liquid crystal panel 441 can be fit, frame-like members 4405 and 4406 holding the frame 4409 supporting the panel 441 in between, an elastic member 4407 arranged to intervene between the members 4405 and 4406 and the panel 441, and translucent base plates 442A and 443A arranged on the outer surfaces of the members 4405 and 4406. The frame 4409 has protrusions 4409A7 projecting two-dimensionally from the side ends of the members 4405 and 4406, and a mount hole 4409A8 for attaching the holder 4402 at the prescribed position is formed at the protrusions 4409A7.
