PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal device that can form an alignment film which has high aligning capability and superior alignment stability and reliability. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the liquid crystal device having liquid crystal held between a couple of opposite substrates 10 and 20 includes a step of forming an inorganic alignment film 12 (22) on a surface of at least one substrate 10 between the couple of substrates 10 and 20 and a step of aligning the liquid crystal L by using the inorganic alignment film 12 (22); and the step of aligning the liquid crystal L includes a step of gradually cooling the liquid crystal L in a magnetic field H having the same azimuth angle with a tilt of the liquid crystal prescribed by the inorganic alignment film 12 (22) after bringing the liquid crystal L into contact with the inorganic alignment film 12 (22) in an isotropic state.
