PARTS THERMALLY SPRAYED WITH SELF-FLUXING ALLOY WHICH DOES NOT EXFOLIATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that self-fluxing alloy thermal spraying is used for the purpose of improving the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of machine parts but if the parts are used in an acid solution including sulfuric acid in the case of the base metal being an austenitic stainless steel, local corrosion occurs near the boundary between a film and the base metal and leads to early exfoliation depending upon the use environment. SOLUTION: The cause for the corrosion lies in the microcarbides formed near the boundary between the film and the base metal in the parts thermally sprayed with the self-fluxing alloy and therefore the carbide formation near the boundary between the base metal and the film is suppressed by compounding a proper amount of Co or Fe which can solid-solutionize much C in the film components and thereby the local corrosion near the boundary is prevented and the parts thermally sprayed with the self-fluxing alloy which does not exfoliate even when used in the acid solution containing the sulfuric acid is provided.
