<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent that a thermal factor extends from a fixing device to an image carrier in an image forming apparatus of an electrophotographic system having the image carrier such as an intermediate transfer belt. <P>SOLUTION: A heat pipe 11 is provided between the fixing device 7 and the intermediate transfer belt 3, heat generated from the fixing device 7 and goes in the direction of the intermediate transfer belt 3 by emission and convection is guided from a space between the fixing device 7 with high atmospheric temperature and the intermediate transfer belt 3 to the left side of the apparatus and emitted at a heat emission part 12 provided there. A duct 13 is provided to discharge the air A containing much heat heated by the fixing device 7 and generated from a medium P such as transfer paper and vapor, the air containing the heat and the vapor is guided by the duct 13 and forcibly discharged outside the apparatus by a cooling fan 14 which is a compulsive exhaust.
