METHOD OF FIRING ARTIFICIAL AGGREGATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of firing artificial aggregate by which high strength low water absorptive artificial aggregate is fired with excellent productivity and stably for a long time even in firing the artificial aggregate using coal ash containing a large quantity of unburnt carbon in a rotary kiln as a raw material.

SOLUTION: The method of firing the artificial aggregate uses a rotary kiln in which the ratio of the inside diameter in a range from a firing zone to a fired material discharge zone to that in a range from a raw material charge zone to a calcining zone is≥0.90 and≤0.95 in the firing of the artificial aggregate in which the coal ash is used as a main raw material and the granulated raw material is fired in the rotary kilm.
