PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-luminance and high-durability organic electroluminescent element, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In the organic electroluminescent element having at least a layer of organic layer containing an emission layer between a pair of electrodes, the emission layer contains at least a microcrystal that is a type of emission material and at least a type of host material, and a plurality of microcrystals are present in the thickness direction of the emission layer.
