PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, enabling cost reduction by changing drive of a plurality of rollers with few one-way clutches in image formation of full color and image formation of monochrome and simplifying the constitution. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a plurality of image forming parts, mutually forming color-different images. The plurality of the image forming parts are provided with image carriers and developing rollers for developing electrostatic latent images formed on the image carriers, respectively. The image carrier and the developing roller of each image forming part is driven by different drive motors provided on the image-forming apparatus body side. The rotating directions of the drive motors for driving a plurality of the developing rollers are changed by switching to normal rotation and to reverse rotation to switch to driving of all the developing rollers in full color image formation, so as to switch to driving of the monochrome developing rollers in monochrome image formation.
