PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a refined green tea extract for selectively removing caffeine from a green tea extract without remarkably changing the composition of catechin and worsening tone. SOLUTION: This method for producing the refined green tea extract containing 25-90 wt.% of non-polymeric catechins on the dry weight of the extract comprises distributing a green tea extract in a mixed solution at the weight ratio of an organic solvent to water of (91:9) to (97:3), and bringing the product into contact with activated carbon and acid white clay or activated clay.
