<p>A gripping apparatus comprising a pair of interchangeable gripping members (12, 24) each mounted on support members (4, 6) at a first end thereof, pivoting means connecting each of the support members at a location offset from the gripping members, where the distal ends (8) of one of the support members (4) is moveable across a supporting surface, the distal ends (28) of the other support member (6) providing resistance to such movement, such that the weight of the apparatus and/or application of a downwards force on the apparatus moves the distal ends (8) of the support member (4) away from the distal ends (28) of the other support member (6), pivoting the gripping members (12, 24) towards each other to exert a grip on a workpiece (34) positioned between the gripping members (12, 24).</p> |
