PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly assist steering in a condition with high assist responsiveness required. SOLUTION: An electronic control unit obtains a current integration value by integrating a motor current over a fixed integration time during assist control. In the case of the current integration value larger than a prescribed value by comparing the current integration value with the prescribed value, a condition requiring high assist responsiveness is judged, a control map during referring is updated in a mode rotating an electric motor at an idle rotational speed N1 even when a steering angular velocityωis less than a starting threshold valueω1. Accordingly, thereinafter, in the case of rapidly steering a steering wheel under a condition requiring high assist responsiveness, a time required for the electric motor to rise up to a motor target rotational speed N can be shortened, so that steering can be quickly assisted. |
