An input shaft 611 of a key lever 610 that transmits a rotating drive force from a key cylinder in response to a key operation is arranged to a lower side of a door housing 10 so that the rain water and the like does not easily reach the input shaft 611. Drive to shaft 611 effects locking/unlocking action of a lock mechanism to disable/enable the action of a release handle on a door latch. The lock mechanism can also be operated by an electric motor 673 or an inside lock button acting on shaft 635. Separate latch 720 and lock 710 housings are secured together and projecting shaft 714Ab from one housing engages a recess 722A in the other housing to provide assembly alignment and formations on the assembled housings resist relative movement except along the shaft axis. A cable 737a leasing from a switch selecting a latch open position is held between the two housings.
