[Class 79 (iii).] In articulated rails unit, such as composite trains, the power generating mechanism is housed in a separate coach one or each end of which and the end of an adjacent coach are pivotally mounted on a common bogie. In a three coach unit, Fig. 1, the power or motor coach B is supported upon bogies 1, to which the passenger coaches A are also articulated, preferably upon the same pivots as the power coach. In Fig. 3, two power coaches B are connected together by a common bogie 8 as well as to passenger coaches A by bogies 1. The drive may be through the power coach bogies or through the bogies or axles supporting the remote ends of the passenger coaches. The Provisional Specification refers to a central power coach housing, an internal-combustion power generator with electrical, mechanical or other transmission.
