<p>The device has a pinion (49) which is mounted rotatably in a support arm and that is fixed rotatably on a vertical axis of a conveyor. A protective casing (59) is formed by a metallic alloy and extends around the support arm in a manner to cover the pinion and a groove so that a chain inside the support arm is locked up. A fixed stop (61) is disposed between rows of teeth (49a, 49b) of the pinion.
