The method involves laying spacing battens (4) on a flexible insulating material (3) along a direction not parallel to rafters (2). The battens are fixed to the rafters so that the material is clamped between the rafters and the battens at intersection of the rafters and the battens. An under-roofing shield (5) is laid on the battens and extends at a distance from the material to arrange an air space between the material and the shield. An independent claim is also included for an insulated roof for a building.
