The clamp device has a mounting table 331 on which the blank pieces (Fig 18, 120, 130) are placed and held by a respective clamp plate 312 which permits guided movement of the blank pieces (fig 18, 120, 130). Positioning units (fig 4A, 380 etc.) move the clamped blank pieces to postion them on the mounting table 331. Lock units (or pawls) 341, 351 apply a given force to the clamp plates 312 to lock the blank pieces that have been positioned. In particular, a first blank piece is positioned and locked, and then a second blank piece is positioned so that a given edge of the second piece contacts a given edge of the locked first piece, whereupon the second piece is locked in position. Also disclosed is blanking or stamping a metal sheet(s), positioning and locking, plasma spray welding of adjacent sheets, and press forming for the finished product. The example of an automotive suspension part is given. |
