1,084,430. Looms; starting. A. E. MOESSINGER. April 1, 1966 [April 9, 1965], No. 14504/66. Heading D1E. In the type of loom in which the shuttle is picked at a speed proportional to the speed of the loom and in which, prior to starting. the loom is at the part of its cycle immediately preceeding picking, the looms main shaft 5 is provided with a flywheel 12 connectable to the shaft 5 by a clutch 1, 2, 6 so arranged that, on starting, the flywheel's speed of rotation is in excess of its normal running speed. This ensures that the shuttle arrives at the far side of the loom at the correct moment in the cycle in spite of the acceleration from rest of the loom. The starting may be arranged over one or two picks. The clutch parts 1, 2 are motor driven and are free on the shaft 5. The clutch part 6 and a sun wheel 10 are splined to the shaft and the flywheel has an internal gear 11 engaging with planet wheels 9 mounted on the part 2 and in mesh with the sun wheel 10. When the loom is stationary a brake 13 is applied and the parts 1, 2 rotate freely on the shaft 5 causing the gears 9 to revolve around the stationary gear 10 and impart a high speed to the flywheel 12. Upon starting the parts 1, 2 are moved axially to the part 6 which then rotates the shaft 5 and sun wheel 10 thus causig a reduction in the speed of the flywheel. For starting over a two pick cycle a two speed motor and electrical circuit are described.
|
