The bold element is produced starting from a measured-out cylindrical wire pin, the front sector of which is reduced in diameter by a rolling process. For a threaded bolt or screw, the reduction and thread-rolling can be done in a single process using a single roll jaw pair (1) with a reducing surface (6) by which the diameter reduction is accomplished.
