The invention relates to a traction device for railway vehicles. According to the invention, the device comprises mainly a supporting plate (8) assembled with the vehicle, a spring unit (7) and a traction element (1) for connecting the spring unit (7) to a coupling arm (6) of a traction hook or to an automatic traction coupling. The traction element (1) comprises two fishplates (2 and 3) spaced apart from each other and connected in their rear part by a connecting pin (4) on which the spring unit (7) rests, while in the front part there is provided a connecting pin (5) assembled with the coupling arm (6), both fishplates (2 and 3) moving longitudinally in the supporting plate (8).
