Analyzing a reaction medium containing at least one cell (C) by: - (a) depositing (C), as an aqueous droplet, on a support (S) having a flat surface; - (b) preparing the reaction medium and insertion into a mass spectrometer; - (c) desorption and ionization of the medium; and - (d) recording and analyzing the mass spectra. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a device for the process that comprises: - (i) (S); - (ii) devices for: - (a) depositing the droplet; and - (b) desorption and ionization; and - (iii) a mass spectrometer.
