The method of identifying defective phase in an isolated neutral system is designed to initiate the process of reducing earth currents of a defective phase. it is characterised in that it consists in comparing the values of successive voltage amplitudes of each system phase in a voltage comparator (4), carried out in the intervals of 1/2 of the period. The non-zero signal resulting from the differences between the amplitudes, obtained at the output of the block (4), provides information on phase defect. The signal is used to switch on parameter-sensitive compensation.
