Stabilized liquid polypeptide-containing pharmaceutical compositions

Described are methods for decreasing aggregate formation of tissue-factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) during storage in a liquid pharmaceutical composition and producing stable polypeptide containing compositions. The methods comprise preparing the liquid pharmaceutical by combining TFPI with at least one amino acid and a buffering agent that is an acid substantially free of its salt form. The amino acid is at least one of arginine or lysine in their free base form and the composition has a pH within a range of about 4 to about out 9. The buffering agents are preferably selected from succinic acid and citric acid.
