Thin film transistor (TFT) on a substrate (500) to drive the organic electroluminescent device. Fabrication of an OLED involves forming a thin film transistor on a substrate; forming a passivation layer on the substrate including the TFT; forming a first electrode layer on the passivation layer (560); forming a contact hole through the passivation layer and the first electrode layer exposing an upper surface of a drain electrode (550) of the TFT at a predetermined portion of the first electrode (570) and the passivation layer; forming a buffer layer (580) on a predetermined portion of an upper surface of the first electrode; forming an organic emission layer (590) within a region defined by the buffer layer; and forming a second electrode (600) on the organic emission layer such that the second electrode is electrically connected with the drain electrode through the contact hole. |
