PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera for continuing an operation even when a battery is exchanged. SOLUTION: The digital camera 1 having a stroboscopic light emission device comprises: a battery attachment/detachment detecting part 22 for detecting the attachment/detachment of the battery 21 to be freely attached/detached to the body of the digital camera 1, which supplies power to the respective parts of the digital camera 1; a main capacitor C1 for storing light emission energy to perform light emission in the stroboscopic light emission device; a DC/DC-converter 26 for supplying the light emission energy stored in the main capacitor C1 by power supply from the battery 21 to the respective parts of the digital camera 1; and a control part 23 for performing control to start the DC/DC-converter 26 when the battery attachment/detachment detecting part 22 detects the detachment of the battery 21 from the main body of the digital camera 1.
