PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a third image by maintaining the position information of dots of a first image and the color information of a second image. SOLUTION: A selector 523 selects a binarized image with error diffusion in the edge of a binary image, and selects an inputted binary image in a portion other than the edge portion. When a pixel value of binary pixel data D50b indicates a white pixel and output binary data D50m indicates a black pixel, an error calculator 540 decides a value obtained by subtracting the maximum value of a pixel value capable of being taken by a multi-value pixel data D50a from error addition data D50c as a binarized error. When the pixel value of the binary pixel data D50b indicates a black pixel and the output binary data D50m indicates a white pixel, the section 540 decides a value obtained by adding the maximum value capable of being taken by the multi-value pixel data D50a to the error addition data D50c, as a binarized error.
