PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission apparatus for transmitting data in an optimum mode according to the condition of a transmission line. SOLUTION: In the data transmission apparatus for transmitting data with OFDM modulated signals between a transmitter and a receiver the transmitter is composed of a mode switch for switching at least either the modulating system, the coding ratio and the number of samples of the OFDM modulated signals and a mode information adder for adding mode information of the switched mode to the OFDM modulated signals. The receiver is composed of an OFDM demodulator for demodulating the OFDM modulates signals sent from the transmitter, a mode information identifier for identifying the mode information from the OFDM modulated signals, and a receiving condition discriminator for discriminating the receiving condition of the OFDM modulates signals sent from the transmitter.
