PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood preservative which enables excellent penetration of an active ingredient into wood, is excellent in antiseptic, fungicidal, ant- and insect-repelling effects and has reduced odor. SOLUTION: An antiseptic/fungicidal agent for wood based on an organic iodine, a triazole, etc. and/or an ant-/insect-repellent for wood based on pyrethroid, neonicotinoide, etc. and, if required, a surfactant are compounded with a diphenyl alkane comprising a mixture of 1,1-(s-butylphenyl)phenylethane, 1,2-(s-butylphenyl)phenylethane and s-butylphenyl-phenylethane. The wood preservative can be formulated into an oil solution prepared by dissolving the antiseptic/fungicidal agent for wood and/or the ant-/insect-repellent for wood in the diphenyl alkane, an emulsion further containing the surfactant and water, a microcapsule prepared by microencapsulating the diphenyl alkane and the ant-/insect-repellent for wood, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
