The bottle wall (3) is provided with an internal protective layer (6) for providing protection against volatile substances such as alcohol. The wall is a thick one with a main layer (4) comprising ethylene/methacrylic (E/MAA) copolymer or polyethylene terephthalate (PET), especially polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PET-G). A coextruded coloured layer (7) is provided on the inner side of the main layer. An independent claim is also included for a multi-layer bottle with a thick wall produced by coextrusion, comprising a transparent polypropylene or polyethylene main layer, a coloured inner layer comprising a material which is compatible with that of the main layer. The inner layer is as thick as or thinner than the main layer and/or a shadow-forming means is applied to the main layer.
