<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of maintaining an average of gradation values of white color parts in a photographed image to nearly a desired gradation value even when a zoom position of a zoom lens is changed. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 120 analyzes a photographed image, conducts an average L of gradation values of a white color part in a photographed image, and compares the average L with a desired gradation value Lt. When the average L of the gradation values of the white color part is lower than the desired gradation value Lt, the CPU 120 corrects an adjustment pattern image so as to reduce a light valve white color area Sq in order to increase the average L of the gradation values of the white color part. When the average L of the gradation values of the white color part is higher than the desired gradation value Lt, the CPU 120 corrects the adjustment pattern image so as to increase the light valve white color area Sq in order to decrease the average L of the gradation values of the white color part.
