<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable composition excellent in sensitivity, film strength and storage stability, and an image recording material using the same which is excellent in sensitivity, run length in printing and development tolerability and in addition excellent in the storage stability of the recording layer. <P>SOLUTION: The polymerizable composition contains (A) a polymerizable compound having at least one of the group represented by formula (I): -X-Y-Z (I), (B) an infrared absorber and (C) a radical initiator. The image recording material has a recording layer containing the above polymerizable composition on a support. In formula (I), X indicates an amide group, urethane group, urea group or sulfonamide group; Y indicates an organic linking group consisting of three or more atoms except hydrogen atoms; and Z is a group represented by formula (II) or formula (III), wherein A<SP>1</SP>indicates -O- or -NR<SP>7</SP>-, A<SP>2</SP>indicates a phenylene group that may have a substituent, and R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>7</SP>indicate each independently a monovalent substituent composed of a hydrogen atom or a non-metal atom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
