PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus whose main body is made easy-to-hold and which is made compact and inexpensive. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with an imaging means 11 for forming a subject image, a shutter main body 10 arranged nearly in the vicinity of the imaging surface of the imaging means 11 and having a shutter blade constituted to move between a 1st position where photographic luminous flux is intercepted on a plane orthogonal to an optical axis and a 2nd position where the transmission of the photographic luminous flux is permitted, a shutter driving means 12 for driving the shutter blade, and a grip part 4 which is held in performing imaging operation. In the apparatus, at least a part of the driving means 12 is arranged nearly in the vicinity of the imaging surface on an opposite side to the grip part 4 through an imaging optical path.
