PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state imaging element preventing deterioration of resolution while securing a wide dynamic range and also preventing generation of shading. SOLUTION: A plurality of arrangement patterns in each of which large-diameter microlenses 114, 116, 118, 120 are arranged on the upper, lower, right, and left of each small-diameter microlens 112, are included on the imaging surface 100 of the solid state imaging element. At the time of observing the small-diameter microlens 112 from a direction parallel with the imaging surface 100 through a gap 130 between the large-diameter microlens 116 arranged on the lower part of the small-diameter microlens 112 and the large-diameter microlens 118 arranged on the left side of the small-diameter microlens, the area of the image of the small-diameter microlens 112 which is observed through the gap 130 is below a half of the area of an image obtained by projecting the small-diameter microlens 112 to a face vertical to the imaging surface 100.
